Buy and using a Rotisserie such as the George Foreman Rotisserie is a great way to enjoy great tasting meat that is healthy for you. Rotisseries cook meat by turning the meat on a skewer while radiant heat penetrates the meat. Because the skewer is continuously turning you get all the juiciness and flavor of the meat without all the fat as the fat drips down into a tray below the meat. A rotisserie is ideal for a number of different kinds of meat but is especially ideal for chicken and pork loins.
There are several different types of rotisseries starting with the type we all know well that fit atop our barbeque for summertime grilling. These types of rotisseries have the distinct disadvantage of only being available when the weather is warm enough for a barbeque. There are however now toaster and convection ovens with rotisseries built into them or even stand alone rotisseries such as the George Foreman rotisserie that are designed for indoor use, allowing you to enjoy the juicy goodness or rotisserie meat all year around.
There are two basic types of standalone rotisseries; the horizontal rotisserie which is what the George Foreman rotisserie is and a vertical rotisserie. The horizontal rotisserie has the skewers placed horizontally and it turns the meat while it is on its side. This type of rotisserie works much better for large chickens or slabs of beef or pork. You can also find horizontal models that can cook more than one piece of meat at a time but these are normally meant for very large families or for commercial use.
The vertical rotisserie is about right size for a small chicken or may be used for small meats that do not require quite so much balance on the skewer. These rotisseries are nice for small families but if you think you want to do bigger pieces of meat on them you will be much better off with a horizontal rotisserie.
Be sure to check what type of heat the rotisserie you are buying uses radiant and convection heat are your best choices since they cook the food more evenly by cooking it a bit slower. Many toaster ovens are adding a rotisserie to their ovens which is great but you need to make sure that they can either use radiant or convection heat.
